Earthworm is a dark and earthy theme for Espresso intended to highlight what’s important without searing your eyes.

To install, simply move the file Earthworm.css into your ~/Library/Application Support/Espresso/Themes/ folder and restart Espresso. It will then be available in the Preferences.

If you have git installed and wish to be able to keep Earthworm up-to-date that way, run the following commands in Terminal:

mkdir -p ~/Library/Application\ Support/Espresso/Themes/
cd ~/Library/Application\ Support/Espresso/Themes/
git clone git://
ln -s earthworm.foam/Earthworm.css Earthworm.css

You will then be able to update Earthworm using a standard git pull:

cd ~/Library/Application\ Support/Espresso/Themes/earthworm.foam/
git pull origin master

Inspiration and license

Earthworm was inspired by the Wikipedia PHP syntax screenshot; many thanks to whoever came up with that particular combination of colors. To truly capture the feeling of the original, make sure to use the font Monaco.

The theme is released under an MIT license, so if you wish to port it or modify it please feel free. If you do use or modify Earthworm, I would love to hear about it.
