This month I’m writing

October 30, 2009

I’ve wanted to be a writer since I was in fifth grade, and although I started mucking around with websites three years later (which eventually led to my current full-time employment as a web designer) I’ve never lost sight of that goal. However, I’ve been distracted recently and found it difficult to form the habit of writing regularly, which is certainly necessary if I’m ever going to be published.

I’ve decided that this year, it’s finally time for me to participate in NaNoWriMo, the event where writers all over the world make a commitment to write a novel (well, 50,000 words) in the month of November. My hope is that by hitting writing hard and heavy for a month, I’ll get in the habit of writing at least a little bit every day. You can see how I’m doing over at my profile page.

As a result, though, I’m not going to be able to take any freelance work this November, and I’m putting my various software projects (TEA for Espresso/Coda, mainly) on hold. If an urgent bugfix is needed, I may release something, but otherwise I’m hoping to focus completely on writing for a month.

Wish me luck!
